Benefits of NCC

1. Priviledges and Concessions
(a) Vacancies as under are reserved for commission in the Defence Services for the NCC
‘C’ Certificate Holders.

(i) Army.
IMA Dehradun. 64 vacancies every year through UPSC and SSB interview.
OTA Chennai. 100 vacancies every year for Short Service Commission
(Non Tech) No UPSC exam only SSB interview.

(ii) Navy . 06 Vacancies per course. No UPSC exam only SSB interview. Two
year age relaxation for NCC ‘ C’ certificate holders.

(iii) Indian Air Force. 10 % in all courses including flying training courses. No
UPSC exam only SSB interview.

(b) For Other Ranks, Sailors, Airmen 5% to 10% bonus marks awarded for
recruitment for NCC ‘A’ ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificate holders.

(c) Para Military Forces. 2 to 10 bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
(d) Department of Telecommunication. Bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
(e) NCC. Civilian Gliding Instructors / Girl Cadet Instructor / Whole Time Lady Officer.
(f) State Government. Preference for State Services and reservation of seats for higher
educational studies in certain states.
(g) Industry. Many Industries give preference to NCC ‘C’ cert holders for various jobs
(h) Other Incentives.

>CWS Scholarship - Rs. 5000/- for Hs and HSC results.
>Sahara Scholarship - Max amount Rs. 40,000.
>Chief Ministers Scholarship - SD/SW 2000/- JD/JW 1500/- each.
> Best Cadet in Group - Rs. 3000/-
>Insurance Cover - Upto Rs. 2,00,000/- for any eventuality.
>RDC Delhi - Numerous incentives.
 YEP - Visit Foreign countries.

2. Adventure Training & Sports.
(a) Land Based. Rock Climbing, Mountaineering, Trekking, Cycle, Motor Cycle,
Vehicle Expedition rallies and Camel Safari.
(b) Water Based. Scuba Diving, Sailing, Yatching, White Water Rafting, Wind
Surfing and Kayaking.
(c) Air Based. Para Sailing, Para Jumping, Slithering, Gliding, Microlight, Flying
and Hot Air Ballooning.
(d) Sports. Participating in Jawahar Lal Nehru Hockey Championship, Subroto Cup
Footbal Tournament, All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship, National hooting
Championships and Equestrian Championship.

3. Combat Training.
(a) Army Training. Firing, Section Level Tactics, Leadership Camps, Thal Sainik
Camp, Attachment with Army units, Military Hospitals, IMA dehradun and OTA.
(b) Naval Training. Firing, Advance Leadership Camps, Nau Sainik Camp, Ship
Modelling, Sea Training, Attachment with Naval Ships, Foreign Cruise and Coast
Guard.
(c) Air Training. Skeet Shooting, Aero Modelling, Vayu Sainik Camp, Attachment
Training with Air Force Squadrons, academies and visit to foreign countries.
(d) Misc. Communications skills and career guidance.

4. Methods of Selection :
Selection is on the basis of written examination, interview and
medical examination. All applications are scrutinized at HQ DG NCC, New Delhi and applicants
and short – listed.

The written test is of objective type comprising.
General Knowledge, English and NCC subject of three hours duration. The selected candidates
based on written test are called to appear for interview and medical examination at NCC Officers
Training Academy, Gwalior.

5. Pay Scale GCI Grade – II : Rs 4000 - 100 – 6000
GCI Grade – I : Rs 5500 – 155 – 9000

6. Medical Facilities : The Girl Cadet Instructors and their Dependants are entitled to free
medical facilities in the Military Hospitals.

7. Traveling Concession : As applicable to civil employees of Central Govt Service.

8. CSD Facilities : The Canteen Stores Department facilities are extended to Girls Cadet
Instructors.

WHOLE TIME LADY OFFICERS (WTLO)
Eligibility. In accordance with the provisions of Recruitment Rules for the vacancy in the
grade of Lieutenant of NCC, Whole Time Lady Officer (WTLO), it will be filled up in the
following manner :
(a) 80% vacancies on the basis of direct recruitment conducted by UPSC.
(b) 20% of vacancies by promotion, to be filled up from amongst the Girls Cadets
Instructors on basis of limited Departmental Competition which is held under the aegis
of Headquarters Director General NCC, New Delhi.

GIRL CADET INSTRUCTORS (GCI)
1. The cadre of Girl Cadet Instructor (GCI) has been introduced to promote closer
interaction between staff. There are three promotional grades of GCI i.e GCI Grades I,II &
III. At present 20% posts out of the authorisation of regular army instructional staff in the
Girls Battalions are filled by the GCIs. The following are the conditions of eligibility and
qualification.
2. Condition of Eligibility : Age limit between 20 and 25 years relaxable by 05 yrs for
SC / ST & 03 Years for OBC.
3. Essential Qualification : Degree of Recognised University.
Possession of NCC ‘C’ Certificate.
